Every brand score is computed nightly from sentiment analysis of real community discussions — never sponsored, never influenced by manufacturers. Each brand's 0–100 score reflects the balance of positive to negative mentions across all its products, with only brands that have 15 or more mentions receiving a score.
How brand scores are calculated
Community posts are tagged by brand. Each tagged post chunk is classified as positive, neutral, or negative, and a brand's raw sentiment score is (positive chunks − negative chunks) ÷ total chunks — a value from −1 (all negative) to +1 (all positive).
That raw score gets a small logarithmic volume boost (brands backed by more community data edge ahead when sentiment is equal) and is then mapped onto a 0–100 scale using a percentile power curve (exponent 0.7, clamped between 10 and 95). A minimum of 15 tag matches is required before a score is published.
Because of that percentile step, both brand scores and individual product ratings are relative rankings — each number reflects where a brand or device stands against the rest of the catalog, not an absolute grade. See individual brand pages for per-product breakdowns.
